What is an Eyelash Extension refill?

An Eyelash Extension refill is when your natural lash either sheds or grows out. During your refill, whatever week you come in, I will replace any missing eyelash extensions along with removing any extensions that have grown out. I will then add new eyelash extensions to any natural lashes that do not have extensions already on them. It is a really simple process and will not take as much time as your initial classic or partial set took.

* I recommend coming in around week 2 for your refills because it will cost less and you will always have a full looking set!

Partial Set vs. Classic Set

So many people ask me what the difference between a partial set and a classic set is. I personally always recommend getting the classic set because I love the full look it gives my clients. Here is the break down between the two:

Partial Set: A partial set is when about 1/4 of your natural eyelashes will have an extension attached. This gives the client a very natural look.

Classic Set: A classic set is when every single one of your natural eyelashes will have an extension attached to them. This gives the client a full, natural (or glam if wanted) look.

What are eyelash extensions exactly?

Eyelash extensions are where you apply a single extension to your natural eyelash by using a medical grade adhesive. When done properly, the extensions will not cause any damage to your natural eyelashes. Your extensions can last from weeks ranging from 2-4 weeks. There are many different lengths, thicknesses, and curls to achieve and look, whether that be natural or glam!

What is the process for Eyelash Extensions?

The process is simple and goes as followed:

1. Consultation: Before we get started, I will ask you what type of desired look you would like. This can mean a lot of things, such as: Curl, Thickness, Length. I will guide you through and give you examples while answering any other questions you have before we begin the initial process.

2. Preparation: I will then use comfortable eye pads to stick onto your lower lashes. This ensures that your lower lashes do not mix in with your upper lashes. After the eye pad is placed, I will then brush through your natural lashes to prepare them for the process.

3. Primer: Before I start adding the eyelash extensions, I will take my cotton swab and use primer. Eyelash extension primer will help take off all the oils on your natural lashes so the bond between your natural lash and the extension lasts longer.

4. Eyelash Extensions: I will then take my tweezers and dip the eyelash extension in the adhesive and apply it to your natural eyelash, one at a time. This process varies on time. It usually takes me around 2-3 hours for the initial set but refills will never take that long.

5. Sealant: After your beautiful set is complete, I will add sealant to your eyelash extensions. Sealant helps protect your new extensions and can be purchased online for no more than $20.00 if you would like to purchase a bottle.

6: Glamour Shot: I love to take pictures of my clients to show them the difference so please let me know beforehand if you do not want your picture taken.

Here is the process for Eyelash Extension refills:

1: Consultation: I will ask if you would like to keep your eyelash extensions the same, such as: curl, thickness, length, or if you would like to change anything. Most of my clients go up in curl and thickness as time goes on!

2. Preparation: I will then use comfortable eye pads to stick onto your lower lashes. This ensures that your lower lashes do not mix in with your upper lashes. After the eye pad is placed, I will then brush through your eyelash extensions to prepare them for the process.

3: Primer: I will take my cotton swab and apply the primer to your eyelash extensions and brush through them throughly.

4: Refilling Extensions: I will then take my tweezers and take off any eyelash extensions that have grown out and apply a new extension to that eyelash. I will also add extensions to the eyelashes that have grown in since then so you leave with a whole new set!

Everlasting Eyelash Extensions...

Here are some great tips to make your eyelash extensions last longer!

1. No mascara! Leaving your eyelash extensions natural can help them last longer. If you must add mascara, which even I'm guilty of, only apply it to the tips. Do not go all the way down to the root of your eyelash extension as it can be tricky to get all of the mascara off! Also, do not use waterproof mascara! Waterproof mascara takes a lot of scrubbing to your eyes before coming off.

2. Brush, Brush, Brush! Brushing through your eyelash extensions can help improve your extensions. Your eyelash extensions will be longer than your normal eyelashes so they will overlap each other sometimes! By brushing through them everyday, you can "untangle" them so they don't end up pulling on each other.

3. No Oil! Oil free products will be your eyelash extensions best friend. If you have makeup on, make sure you use an oil free makeup remover because anything with oil can loosen the extensions on your natural lash.

4. Don't brush those lashes while they're wet! Your eyelash extensions may be all over the place after you get out of the shower or swimming pool but as tempting as it may be, don't brush them! Allow time for your eyelashes to dry before brushing through them.

5. Limit those saunas! I am guilty of wanting to relax in a sauna for hours but extreme heat and sweating can loosen those extensions. Try to minimize your time in the sauna to 15 minutes or less.

6. Sealant! After every refill you have with me, I add something that is called a sealant. Sealants help for a barrier that protects your extensions from harmful elements that could loosen them. If you would like to purchase some, I can give you great recommendations on which ones to get. They will not cost you more than $20.00 max!

7. No picking or itching! I get it, allergies come and you want to just scratch your eyes out, but try to refrain from it. Instead of itching or picking at your eyes, try a shower! Your eyes AND your eyelash extensions will thank you.

8. Say no to heat! Anything with extreme heat can damage those eyelash extensions. Come summer time, be EXTREMELY careful around fire, especially grilling. None of my clients have had any issues while but I just like to mention it for protection reasons.

9. NO CURLING. I have had many clients come in who used heated eyelash curlers on their natural eyelashes and thats completely fine! But once those eyelash extensions are on, you cannot curl them. Applied heat to the eyelash extensions can burn them. Eyelash extensions have enough curl where you should not need to curl your extensions and if you want more of a curl, all you have to do is ask!

How long will my extensions last?

Every client has different experiences with how long their eyelash extensions last. Around week two, you will notice your eyelash extensions will begin to fall out, sometimes with your natural lash, sometimes without. Don't freak out, this is normal! Eyelash extensions have a growth cycle and when their growth cycle is complete, they shed so a new lash can come in. If you have a black extension on your natural lash while it sheds, of course you will notice it. But again, this is very natural and it does not mean that you're extensions are causing any harm to your natural eyelashes.

Around 2-3 weeks is when I always tell clients to come back in. After four weeks, you will basically need a new set of eyelash extensions. It will always be cheaper to come in sooner rather than later. Not to mention, the sooner you come in, the more full those lashes would look! And who wouldn't want that!

Let's talk brands...

Nothing irks me more when I hear that Eyelash Extension stylists get their brands off E-Bay or Amazon. A well-trained, passionate, stylist should always do extensive research before choosing his/her brand to put on their clienteles eyes. With that being said, I have four favorite brands so far that my clients can choose from depending what look they want. I will list the four brands and some information about them. The information will be a lot to take in, but don't worry, you essentially just need to let me know what look you're trying to achieve and I will choose your Curl, Thickness, and Lengths myself. This information is just here for educational purposes. Here is the break down:

1. Borboleta: Borboleta Eyelash Extensions are known to be the best brand of Eyelash Extensions on the market. Their eyelash extensions are darker than other brands, therefore, more noticeable. Their lengths range from 3mm-20mm! That is some serious length! The most common lengths that I use are 9mm-14mm. The thickness ranges from .07-.25. The most common thickness that I use is .15 & .20. Any thickness past .20 is very damaging to your natural eyelash. What I love about this brand is that they have a great selection of curls to choose from. The three curls that I use from this brand are C-Curl, CC-Curl, and D-Curl.

2. Bella Lash: Bella Lash could equally also be the best brand of Eyelash Extensions on the market. Bella Lash came out with "Royal Lashes" and they are feathery, light, and BEAUTIFUL. These are my favorite brand to put on my clients. Their lengths range from 8mm-15mm. The thickness is either .15 or .20. The three curls that I use from this brand are B-Curl, C-Curl, and D-Curl. Bella lash has a glossy finish on their eyelash extensions so it really brings out the extensions without ruining that natural look!

3. SugarLash Pro: SugarLash Pro are a premium brand of synthetic or real mink eyelashes! I have noticed that this eyelash extension brand is lighter, color wise, than the other brands. So if you are really looking for a natural eyelash extension brand, this is the one for you! Their lengths range from 8mm-14mm. The thickness ranges from 0.07-.18. The three curls that I use from this brand C-Curl, D-Curl, and L-Curl. What is unique about this brand is that they offer different colored eyelash extensions! So if you're feeling spontaneous, you can have purple, green, or even glittery eyelash extensions! If you are interested in those, you will have to let me know in advanced as I don't have them in stock unless a clients asks for them specifically.

4. Lash Tavern: Lash Tavern is another great brand that has a great selection of natural, great quality, eyelash extensions. This brand offers a new trend called Flat Eyelash Extensions. This just simply means that the eyelash extension will lay directly flat onto your natural lash versus sitting on top of them like other eyelash extension brands. The lengths range from 8mm-15mm. The thickness ranges from 0.15-.20. The three curls they offer are B-Curl, C-Curl, and D-Curl.

**The three types of adhesive glue I use are from Borboleta, Lash Tavern, and Bella Lash. All of my adhesive glue will be thrown away after 6 weeks and replaced with a new one. Old adhesive is the top leading cause of irritated eyes! I also offer sensitive adhesive if you know your eyes are sensitive. I have done extensive research on all of my adhesive and none of my clientele have had any issues with them.
